What is a birth doula?
According to DONA International, the largest certifying organization for doulas in the world, a doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Furthermore, I believe birth is 80% mental. Our minds are the most powerful things our bodies possess. As a Licensed Mental Health Clinician and birth doula, I know first hand just how essential a positive mindset and having the right support is. I want to empower mamas to know that they are able to do what they were created to do. And to do so beautifully, bravely and how they desire the experience to be. I am a mother of two, one who was born by an emergency cesarean and the other via a unmedicated, Doula attended VBAC (vaginal birth after a cesarean). I am a testament to how you can birth how you want; there are options for you! I have experienced firsthand the enormous difference and positive results having the right team around you throughout the journey of pregnancy can yield you.
